General Questions
Is there a trial version I can try?
When you download and install KBLinker for the first time, a 7 day trial automatically activates. At any time you can enter your serial number on the about page.
Can I use KbLinker with a Tracker such as P202/T202?
Yes you can. You can either create a Prosper 202 or Tracking 202 link that redirects to a KBlinker link, or you can setup KBlinker to redirect to P202/T202. The later may be more appropriate if you are using the Georouting feature. The redirection script passes any variables attached to the end of the url (with the exception of 'id') onto the target url.
Can I use a masked link with Wordpress?
Generated links can be linked from any script or site that allows you to embed direct links. Because targeting events occur after the visitor clicks the link, no special modifications are required when posting a link in wordpress or other CMSs.
Is there a monthly fee?
KBLinker is a self hosted script. What this means is that when you make your purchase, it is a one time charge. You are then sent the script to be installed on your own hosting account. A hosted version of KBLinker is planned in the near future for those who would prefer not to use their own hosting.
Geo Routing
Which database is used for Geolocation?
KBLinker offers a choice of four geolocation methods. The two common ones are the Maxmind GeoLite Country database, and the GeoPlugin API. is distributed with Maxmind's GeoLite Country binary database. By default KBLinker is set to use the GeoPlugin database to keep distribution size down, this option can be changed in the configuration file saved with the redirection script.
What are the differences between the two?
The maxmind database is used locally with the redirection script, this may cause more processing time on your server, and requires that the maxmind files are stored with the redirection script. The Geoplugin option does not require any additional files to accompany the redirection script, but relies on a connection to Geoplugin's server.
Will other APIs be supported, such as Google?
Yes. Additional geocoding APIs are being researched for implementation in the near future.
